Training runs
Preparations are in full swing. Arriva has now started training runs for train drivers. Once these training runs have been completed, the railway line is expected to officially open to passenger trains in early October. After ten years, trains will once again be running across the Friesenbrücke.

Launch of the Wunderline
The plan is to run passenger trains from the start of October. The timetable for the Groningen–Leer route will soon be available in journey planners. The speed on the route has been increased, journey times for passengers have been reduced, and the door-to-door journey is more comfortable. The resumption of the connection between Groningen and Leer is an important step towards the Wunderline: the high-speed, international rail link between Groningen and Bremen.

International connection
The Province of Groningen regards the Wunderline as a key investment in the future of the northern border region. The Province of Groningen, the State of Lower Saxony and Bremen are working closely with Deutsche Bahn (DB) and ProRail to bring the project to fruition. A good international rail link strengthens economic cooperation, makes sustainable mobility more attractive and brings people on both sides of the border closer together – not only for tourists, but also for students, schoolchildren and workers. The Wunderline is therefore a key driver of cross-border cooperation, growth and exchange.
