A look back at the walk-in meeting speed increase

On Tuesday evening 1 July, the province of Groningen, ProRail, the contractor and the municipality of Oldambt organised a walk-in meeting at the Harbourclub in Winschoten. This evening was organised in preparation for the work on the track between Scheemda and Winschoten.

These track works are being carried out to increase the speed on the track between Scheemda and Winschoten from 100 to 130 km/h. The work will be carried out in the second half of August. No trains will run then.

During the evening, attendees were given an insight into the plans for the rail route. Topics such as safety, noise and the planning of the works were discussed in detail. The meeting offered valuable discussions with interested parties from the surrounding area.

Making the track between Scheemda and Winschoten suitable for higher speeds is one of the last steps on the Dutch side to achieve a faster international train connection between Groningen and Bremen.
