Start of the Wunderline Student Challenge

On the initiative of Oldambt municipality (the Netherlands) and in cooperation with PeperX, the Wunderline project has set up a Student Challenge. Teams of international students are challenged to design an eye-catcher for stations along the Wunderline. Participation is not only limited to Dutch and German students, students from Spain and even Iran have also signed up! The aim of the challenge: to make train passengers curious to explore the municipalities along the Wunderline.

Kick-off

The challenge was officially launched last week. During the Promotion Days for enterprising Northern Netherlands, the nine teams were linked to a station through a wheel of fortune. The stations ranged from Groningen to Scheemda and from Bunde to Bremen. Local contacts, such as mayors and officials, tell the students all about the unique features and attractions of their station and municipality.

Eyecatchers and competition

Students' design may take many forms, as long as it catches the traveller's attention! Each team creates a model and a video in which they present their idea and highlight the attractiveness of their plan. The competitive element makes it extra exciting: the more challenging the location, the more points can be earned.

Award ceremony

An expert jury will judge the designs on three main criteria: attractiveness, creativity and feasibility. On 5 December, the teams will present their idea in Bad Zwischenahn. Afterwards, the winners of the Student Challenge will be announced and the first three places will receive a prize: €1250 for the winner, €500 for the second and €200 for the third place.
