Start of the Wunderline Challenge

The Wunderline Chain Mobility Network initiated the Wunderline Challenge project. The goal of this challenge: to make train passengers curious about municipalities along the Wunderline. The project management is in the hands of the municipality of Oldambt and the city of Leer, and the implementation is being handled by PeperX. Twelve municipalities along the line are participating in the project; they are also contributing financially, in addition to subsidies from INTERREG.

Kick-off

The challenge was officially launched Nov. 5. During the Promotion Days for enterprising Northern Netherlands, the nine teams were linked to a station by means of a wheel of fortune. The stations ranged from Groningen to Winschoten and from Leer to Bremen. Local contacts, such as mayors and officials, told the students all about the unique features and attractions of their station and municipality.

Eyecatchers and competition

Students' design may take many forms, as long as it catches the traveller's attention! Each team creates a model and a video in which they present their idea and highlight the attractiveness of their plan. The competitive element makes it extra exciting: the more challenging the location, the more points can be earned.

Award ceremony

An expert jury will judge the designs on three main criteria: attractiveness, creativity and feasibility. On 5 December, the teams will present their idea in Bad Zwischenahn. Afterwards, the winners of the Student Challenge will be announced and the first three places will receive a prize: €1250 for the winner, €500 for the second and €200 for the third place.
